Psalm 91 (The Secret Place)

This psalm has been many people's favorite psalm for so long, but few have come to really realize the full meaning and revelation it contains, they pray with it as a religious activity. But today, i want to share the revelation i got from studying this particular chapter.

He (meaning anybody) that dwelleth (yashab - to dwell, to sit, to rest as in a house) in the secret place of the Most High (Elyon) shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Shaddai). -

First, i will like to point out two important positions here.
Most High (Elyon): The highest, supreme. Dwelling in the secret place of the Most High signifies been far above the principalities and the powers that troubleth. Dwelling and operating from an advantaged position. This is why the bible says all things work together for our (believer's) good, because we function from an advantaged position. this is righteousness. Righteousness has little to do with actions, but more to do with positioning.
Almighty (Shaddai): The Strongest, Mightiest. This is a place of protection, safety and victory. The name of the Lord is like a strong tower, the righteous run into it and is saved. this is the same situation when Jesus said he is sending us into the world as sheep amongst wolves. Someone said, that he said that because he wanted us to know that our best friend is a Lion being with us at all times. you see, the sheep walking in the shadow of the great Lion, is as strong as the Lion, because he's got the Lion on his side. Psalm 27, The Lord is my light and my salvation, who shall i fear?

Another thing to note about the verse was that it did not say, "he that dwelleth in the secret place and abides". it said, 'shall abide'. The qualification to be in the shadow of the Almighty is to first dwell in the secret place of the Most High. It is a secret place because no one can see it. this is a place of rest. it is the same place of rest the bible talked about in Heb 4:10. There is this place of rest we function in, void of any struggle, poverty, pain and sorrow. This is in christ. 2 Cor 5:17 says, "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature..." This is the place of rest, "in Christ". This was what Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you". Eph 2:6, said that we are seated with him. Eph 1:20-21, says Jesus was raised (remember, we have been raised with him) from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion and every name that is, named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
We are not going to enter the rest, we have come there already (Heb 12:22). I know some people will be wondering and be saying stuff like, "but there are still pains, poverty, life is not easy. we go up and we go down,". i tell you, this will only be your testimony because you do not stay in the secret place.
How do i stay in the Secret place
This is a faith walk and as every faith walk, your mindset is the key to achieving it. I have always faith as a function of the totality of your phronensis (mindset).
Lets take a look at the word. phronensis. Luke 1:17 says, "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom (phronensis) of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
The word wisdom was translated phronensis meaning mindset. in order words, he will turn men from the phronensis of the wicked to the phronensis of the righteous (just). You see, the wicked cannot stay in the secret place. They are always troubled, insecured, afraid etc. There is no peace for the wicked, says the Psalmist. Their acts are down. God is turning you to the phronensis of the Just, where there is peace. Jesus said, in the world you will have tribulation (John 16:33), but in chapter 14 verse 27, he said, my peace i leave (bequit) you, not as the world gives... The rest of God is different from the word's version of rest. In the world's idea of rest, there will be no tribulation, if tribulation occurs then there will be no peace. but the God-kind of peace is the one of total rest whether or not tribulations exist. From the inside bubbles the peace. This was the peace that was in Jesus, that he slept when the storm rocked their boat. How many people can do that today, sleep and rest in the midst of the trials and tribulations that come. Smile and be joyous in the midst of the persecution and the mockery. Yet when he woke up, he didnt tremble nor shout at the storm, he simply brought out what he had inside and released it outside. You cant give what you dont have. The solution to the problem of the world lies within you (Rom 10: 6-8).
Jesus says, "Come into my rest all ye that are heavily burden and I will give you rest. take my yoke and learn from me. for my yoke is light".
Cast your cares upon him for he cares, take no thought on anything, be anxious for nothing. these are commands from the Holy Spirit to us. This is how to be in the rest of God. Just acknowledge that God is with you till the end of the ages. He is with you everwhere and anywhere. Refuse to be daunted by the raging storms, your faith is based on the words of Jesus. Glory to God
