THE WILL OF GOD AND DEMOCRACY
I decided to do a post on this topic because of the contortion of truth by many biased Christians who ought to be careful in what they attempt to rope God in. Nigeria is in an election era, therefore many will try to take advantage of religion in order to support their candidate. I find this very distasteful and wrong. In my discussion with such individuals, I find that some innocently are ignorant of the concept of the Kingdom of God and its relation to Man’s dominion. Here is their argument: That God choses and enthrones Kings on earth and therefore is in charge of choosing Presidents. This does have a scriptural base in that God is Lord over the Kings of the earth,
That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. (Dan 4:25 KJV)
Now, did God set up Nebuchadnezzar to rule initially? No! But he had permitted it. The Kingdom was given to men, but it is God who gave us the Kingdom, so he still reigns supreme. Since Nebuchadnezzar defied him, he taught him a lesson. So there is base for such argument, especially when it comes to the Kingdom. But we ought to know why it was legal for God to act in Nebuchadnezzar in that manner.
The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. (Psa 115:16 KJV)
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Gen 1:28 KJV)
So man had dominion over the earth, over everything on earth. Was God breaking his own gift? We know that the gift of God are without repentance. Is it true for the Kingdom?
Rev. Chris Oyakhilome says, “When we pray, we make it consistent for God to act in a matter that would have been inconsistent for him to act if we hadn’t prayed”
This is synonymous with the famous quote by John Wesley, “It is almost as if God will not act if man does not pray”
God knows what we will ask even before we prayed, so why does he need an intercessor? Because the Intercessor invites him to perform his will on earth to supersede an erroneous human will. Nebuchadnezzar had terrorized the Children of Israel by God’s permission in punishment for their numerous, devious sins, but he got cocky and proud of his achievement, and God showed him who was Boss. It is important to note that this was in fulfillment of prophecies from the Prophet Ezekiel and the Prophet Isaiah who God had used to speak against Babylon and Nebuchadnezzar. It is also the same scenario where God told Ezekiel to speak to the dry bones. And until Ezekiel spoke, the dry bones did not respond. God needs man to function on earth. Even if it was just a man that he could use, he will route the world. Thank God he used Jesus to save the world. But man’s will is the premium here on earth. I could go on and on about this but it will only elongate my speech here so I will head on to our main focus.
Here is the question: If the earth is subject to God’s will, why are there so many sufferings and deaths? Can we now say that God is a monster for permitting and allowing the homeless children of Haiti? Is God responsible for that 5yr old girl that was gang raped by 3 men? Is God responsible for all the genocides that have occurred in this world since time memorial? The Nazi genocide, or all of those of Africa which I can not even begin to quantify?
Christians try to justify these questions while balancing their myopic view that God is in charge of the earth. This is why atheism rises mostly from the Christian circles than any other religion. God is insulted by such notions. If God was in charge of the world, why would Jesus need to die in the first place? Being in Church does not rob us of logic and reason. That is why the devil is called the god of this world! So who raised up these evil Kings? The Devil. Who caused the pain and sufferings? The Devil. He is called the Destroyer, the Devourer. This is his job, his hobby: to kill, steal and destroy. How dare someone who calls himself a Christian try to tell me that God instituted Hitler in order to restore the Jewish nation. That is a very sick notion. The earthquakes, the natural disasters, the floods etc that have claimed so many lives, are they also from God? Absolutely not? Friends, this is why Jesus came. Not just for you to wear headtie and goto Church and sing ‘Praising the Lord!’ But to save your ecosystem, to save your people, to save the world. We were saved to be saviors.
And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S. (Oba 1:21 KJV)
To be blessings to our world. To heal the land, to restore the desolate cities, to redeem the generation. We were blessed with an excellent gift. We are the hand of God for restoration. Could God stop the devil? He had no legal right. So what did he do? He used a backdoor to get back control of his system. He set up the rules, so he has to live by them. His principles make him God, if he breaks it, then he is not Righteous or Holy. But he created the rules, so he knows the backdoor. The backdoor was payment of the price that was owed. What price? Whatever a man sows, he reaps. This is a law that existed from the beginning of man. If man sows sin, he reaps it and the wages of sin was death. Now, I could paint the scene of the beautiful exchange for you but this page will not suffice, it’s a whole new topic. All in all, God sneaked his son legally into the world as a man who will represent mankind and bear the brunt of judgment. So, so, so, without sacrificing any man but himself, God saved mankind and set in motion the ability to take over the world and heal the land.
This is already getting too long, so I will break it up here and let you mull over my words. The second part comes up almost immediately.
