THE WILL OF GOD AND DEMOCRACY contd
Now dominion is restored to man, and he tells this new man,
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Mat 18:18 KJV)
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (Mat 18:19 KJV)
Note, this is not for the unsaved man on the street, this is for the Sons of God, who are transformed and soaked in his will.
Even from the old testament, indications that the power of the Kingdom rests on the saved ones exist
Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. (Jer 1:9 KJV)
See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. (Jer 1:10 KJV)
This is why Elijah could command fire from heaven and it will burn 100 men, or Moses will hit the rock instead of speaking to it twice and it will produce water though it angered God. Severally in the bible, the Children of God, at their own peril have acted outside of God’s will, succeeded but suffered the consequences.
I believe so much in walking in the will of God and as a Christian, it is my safe zone. That we can do so much is not much comfort if our will is not surrendered to his will. He gives us righteousness, to make righteous judgments so we do not act like the devil for our selfish needs. But can men stand up against God? Sure! This will also be in another post. But I will remind you of the tower of Babel.
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. (Gen 11:6 KJV)
Look at the powerful statement of the Lord. He created us, and he knows what we are capable of. One man might do a lot, but a collection of the will of the people is something different. Have you ever wondered on the power of the corporate anointing? This is it! The People is One! Back then in school, when I taught on ST101 (Spiritual Technology) practical, it was my first topic: The Power of Accord. I have to re study it again, but I know its general effect. Oh boy! The people is one!
This takes me to Democracy. God’s govt is nothing like man’s idea of govt. His preferred choice of govt is Theocracy, the Kingdom whose King is God. This of course introduced Monarchy, The Kingdoms of men. Though it was corrupt, but it poses till now a better govt than Democracy in my opinion. The problem of Democracy lies in its definition. “The power of the people, for the people and by the people”. The last phrase is the problem. The people do not always know the way and they are rarely united so decision making is grossly hindered. If the people were united, then it is possible to have a wonderful govt, but that is hardly the case in a species whose central core is selfishness. Secondly, Democracy has failed because the power is still hijacked by some select few who have made themselves, democratic nobles or aristocrats. God has never entrusted power on the people, because the people could easily be deceived and swayed. This is the ancient tactics of the Devil. The Devil cannot fight God. I have always taught that he is not the enemy of God. They are not mates. But the secret weapon of the devil has always been man. God’s soft spot, the apple of his eye. Now the devil held them captive and uses it against the Lord. This is the reason why Armageddon will be fought by men possessed by demons and rather than the demons facing the angelic horde. Either way, they will lose cos God has us.
Therefore, in a democratic country like Nigeria, in an election era, many have attempted to use God to sway their candidate in a claim that God have selected so and so candidate or have rejected so and so candidate. This is done based on such a person’s presumed perception of knowing who and who God likes. Reminds me of Samuel who God chided of trying to presume who God chooses. God is not involved in choosing any President in the world, this is man’s job. To make the right choice. He has armed us with righteousness and wisdom, but it is now for us to do that which is right. Even the right for who and who is to be saved have been handed to us.
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: (Joh 20:22 KJV)
Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. (Joh 20:23 KJV)
If he will hand us the choice of salvation for others, how much more choice of a President. Besides, we are not the only ones who exist, there are those out there who needs us. God is not choosing who will be Nigerian President, after all, he didn’t choose Ibb, Abacha, Obasanjo, Yardua etc. This is man’s choice. But even if it were God’s choice, it will not be by your whim and desires. Man is too selfish to be trusted. The President is not a King, he is but part of the ruling system. He says whatsoever your prohibit (bound) shall be bound in heaven (means shall be endorsed in heaven). By our righteous decrees, the best man will be voted in. By our prayers for peace and development for Nigeria, Nigerian’s eyes will be opened to see who and who to vote for. Wisdom, understanding will be granted us. The person we might have perceived to be God’s choice, may very well be the enemy’s. God does not see things like man does.
I have tried to shorten this post to my best ability, so I have left off so many points. I will leave it like this. Lets not rope God into our politics, but involve him for the wellbeing of Nigeria. This is our duty. Let us make it consistent for God to act in this matter that would have been inconsistent if we hadn’t prayed.
