THE PATH OF LIFE
"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore". (Psalm 16:11).
Studying this scripture brought so much joy in my Spirit. Yet, I couldn't grasp the meaning of the scripture. I knew within me that there was something special about the scripture but it seemed to elude me. So while i was praying and meditating, I asked the Lord for direction and teaching, then he began to teach me and expand the scripture.
Thou wilt shew (reveal, unveil)...... He will unveil this path. It was hidden but non existent. It was simply unknown. It is just like the popular scripture
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matt 7:13).
This is a description of the Path of Life. It is strait and narrow. The popular interpretation of this scripture is that the road to salvation is a difficult process and only few can go through it. This is actually wrong and tend to make heaven seemingly difficult to attain. It is true that the path of life is narrow and strait. It is also true that few people walk in it, the question is why. Is the path of life seemingly to difficult? Observe the last phrase of the verse 14. It says "there be few that find it". It is not as though people are trying to walk in it and couldnt, it is simply because they do not find it. It seemed to simple, strait and narrow. It is amazing how many religious people are walking in the broad way and yet quoting this scripture to some more liberal christians just because they feel liberality is a sin. I will expatiate on this in my next blog on righteousness.
The Holy Spirit took me to Proverbs 12:28 to throw more light on this passage.
In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
I like the amplified version better.
Life is in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation), and in its pathway there is no death but immortality (perpetual, eternal life).
There is no death but immortality (perpetual, eternal life, life without end) in this path of life. It is a life full of the Zoe (The life of God). God has not called you to live the human life. He that hath the Son hath Life. This is the exact life that God lives with all the ability and power with wisdom and knowledge of God himself. (Pls refer to my blog on immortal life of the Christian).
As i meditated on this, i became more excited. The Holy Spirit whispered to me, "Do you know that there is a passage that gives an accurate description of this path of life?" I was amazed, then the scripture dropped on me.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want (I have all that I need). He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. (Psalm 23).
Oh my God! I could preach a whole year on this scripture. I will not break down this scripture now, but will do so in another blog soon by the grace of our God. In this path, there is no want, no struggle, there is abundance of supply and restoration and even when it seems difficult for you remember it is just a shadow and not the real thing. There is always comfort and peace. You know that there are some people that are always panicking even in peaceful times. That is not so if you have the Zoe (the Life of God) and walk in this path. One of the greatest revelation I have ever had is that God is always with me. His rod and staff comfortest me. In this path, we have a destination where we dwell in, the House of God. It is full of goodness and mercies, grace and peace, riches and blessings. Remember that we will dwell in the House of God forever because the Life of God never ends.
This is the path of Life, It is a path every true believer walk in it. every other person is walking in the mountain of death. There is a mountain of death and the valley of the shadow of death. The mountain always casts a shadow over the valley. The valley is not the real thing but a shadow of the real thing. The valley is on the path of life while the mountain is the destination of the accursed. This is why few there be that find it, because the mountain is usually prefered to the mountain. Mountains are usually filled with goodies. Ironically, many Christians are on the mountain of death assuming it is God's mountain. They are the religious Christians filled with traditions. The letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life. For you to be on the path of Life, you must be led by the Shepherd and not traditions. The valley is on the way to the Mountain of God which is just close. We need to examine ourselves properly. You might think you are on the right path, but how right is your path. Do not just base your doctrine on the bible but on the Word of God. One might ask, what is the difference? The bible is compilation of many books at different times and for different purposes. Without the direction of the Spirit of God the bible is just a book and can destroy somebody. Get to the Spirit of Life. Pray right now and ask for his help.
If you are not born again, you are on the path of death. It is a path full of activity, buoyant life, pleasures yet no joy. It is a path full of wants but not needs. It is a path where you do all you want but without fulfillment of purpose. Come to Jesus today and simply pray with me and you will find the answer that you have been secretly seeking. Pray with me now
Lord Jesus, I come to you for help. I believe you paid the price for me. I believe in your death and resurrection for my justification. I confess your Lordship and Mastery over me as my Lord and Savior and Guide. I love you and ask for your help and directioning. Show me the path of Life that I might have this experience. Thank you so much.
